The POWER OF DESIGN

I have started to read a book by Richard Farson called The Power Of Design - A force for transforming everything and he calls design for social good as META DESIGN. According to dictionary meta-design literally means:

"The framework or design ideology concerned with creating social, economic, political or technical systems  for the greater good through collaborative methodology. "... "Designers get together and develop ideas that challenge current society or offer a newer, easier, healthier or better way to for people to live.  So, design not for monetary benefit, not for fame or glory but for the greater good of the planet and the human race"

He also says: "... but more important, I have come to have great respect for their (designers)ability to make a better world. Indeed, I have come to think that they represent the profession with the greatest potential to rescue us from the multiple disasters we face and even move us to a new level of humanity..."

DON'T DO THING ONLY FOR PEOPLE WHO'S PAYING THE BILL. BECAUSE WHEN YOU DO SOMETHING THAT IS BAD FOR US, SOCIETY, THEN WE ARE PAYING THE BILL. ... IT'S NOT A MONEY MAKING THING, IT IS ABOUT SERVING THE PUBLIC.

In his video below, he is talking about liberation throught design and using example of disabled people in society now and then. He says that disabled people for the first time in human history, and we are talking about millions or even billions of people, now have the full access to our society throught design - building ramps, making accessible roads... Everybody needs libertaions. Not just disabled people, gays, women. But aas a designers we need to empower other and reenforce our democracy through design.
